CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Tibarn
AGE: 30 in beorc ((human)) years -- Which means 100 because Laguz (non-humans) age very differently in Fire Emblem. Dragons age for over a thousand years however, and while birds are much less than that, they still consider 20 years of a beorc to be an infant.
CANON: Fire Emblem.

CANON HISTORY: http://fireemblem.wikia.com/wiki/Tibarn
CANON PERSONALITY: Tibarn is defined by being the hawk laguz, king of Phoenicis, and later on, King of all the bird tribes. For the hawks (and beasts), rulership is defined by fighting prowess rather than purely just birth lineage, and Tibarn has that in spades. He's strong -- not just physically, but mentally, and in will and his ability to command. He more than earned the respect and loyalty of his tribe, considering them not his subjects as much as his family, and even calling the other hawk fighters his brothers. That said, he presses hard and can be very demanding -- but always first and foremost on himself over others.

He's headstrong and hardheaded, vengeful, and extremely passionate, and enjoys a good fight -- but all of this is rooted in his loyalty and love for the extended bird tribes. When Serene's Forest; the home of the herons was attacked and burned, Tibarn was already looking after the ailing King (chaos and war poisons them, and the attack on the forest did worse) and took in the youngest son Reyson -- which sort of made Reyson extra stubborn and headstrong trying to emulate Tibarn, but that was definitely unintentional, and Tibarn jokes about it frequently. He was passionately angry and refused to forgive the country that did it; taking instead to raiding their ships and became known as the shipless pirates. At the time he was allied with the crows & Naesala (their King) as well, but Tibarn's honor and thirst for revenge meant he only sought the Benignon ships, while the crows would go after everyone. When Leanne was discovered to not have been slain, but instead protected by Serene's Forest itself, Reyson was of course delighted, and Tibarn happily took her in as well, though he teased her even more than Reyson and called her an anchor (jokingly), and argued with her about staying safe -- Tibarn is extremely weak to the heron "children" and unable to refuse them nearly anything.

He started off loathing beorcs (humans -- though you'll not catch him using that word unless he's purposely cursing; it's the worst equivalent to any racial slur you can find according to laguz!) but Ike and the Greil Mercenaries fought so hard to rescue Reyson and Leanne and protect the Forest and restore the family, that Tibarn was able to see past his anger and realize there were good and bad among them, and not all were like those who set fire to Serene's. He even laid off the piracy for a bit; but when news of Reyson and Leanne's oldest brother: Rafiel's survival and even discovery of Benignon's Senate faking an attack on their Empress to cause the forest to burn in revenge; came to light -- Tibarn was moved beyond fury and helped create a laguz alliance to punish the Senate. Worse still, the beast laguz were being taken as slaves, and predominantly held by the Senate as pets, and such atrocities none of the laguz were keen on ignoring forever. Tibarn was even willing to let bygones be bygones as far as Naesala's trickery and generally unreliable and faithless past, and embraced him as an ally so long as it was to protect the Heron clan -- but when Naesala was forced to betray Tibarn (through use of a blood pact that would have killed even more of the already beyond diminishing Crow tribe), Tibarn's antipathy towards the Crow King rebounded exponentially with a vow to torture and slowly kill Naesala. -- Though even that much rage was quelled when Tibarn learned the full truth. Mostly. He still wasn't ever going to be Naesala's biggest fan, to say the least.

Tibarn's honor on the battlefield was such that when told by the enemy to return home to check on the lives of his tribe (only to find an absolute terrible massacre), he returned the favor, warning the same enemy to turn back to where Tibarn, Ike, and their army had created a trap for them. Indeed, despite his desire to destroy his enemies in what could only be described as a bloodthirsty manner; he held himself in check with logic, reason, and honor. Despite his desire to be the one to destroy certain foes, he would step aside, knowing the personal reasons and struggle facing others, and that it was their place to fight to conquer their own demons of the past. This is another reason he would allow the heron siblings to accompany him, even though just the chaos and fighting of wars and battlefields made herons sick.

His sense of humor is sarcastic and based in his familiarity with situations and people. He's also a bit of a flirt, claiming his reason for not fighting on Elincia's country's territory was that he couldn't refuse a pretty face; and at another point, flirting heavily with the wolf laguz queen: Nailah on the battlefield -- though both of these are more about his swagger. And in the case of Elincia, she impressed him with her daring recklessness (causing him to laugh hard and tell Ike he'd been replaced as the "craziest beorc I've ever met") and with Nailah, they were bonding over being naturally violent species -- despite Nailah's love of Rafiel, and Tibarn's mutual love of the heron clan and the herons' generally calming influence on all; complete with the heron's insistence in endgame that no hunting was to be done in Serene's Forest, and Tibarn trying to explain hawks couldn't live off of berries and twigs.

Extremely abrupt and to the point; Tibarn is head and shoulders; above all else: practical. He knows when they're outmatched, when to fight guerrilla warfare, and this is a large part of what makes him such an excellent commander and King. He's very instinctive; using it not just for hunting and fighting, but to piece out what the mind doesn't always have the right or enough information to follow the connections to where they lead -- and this is one of his greatest assets that got him to live as long as he did. Indeed, in the fight of Ashera vs. Yune, Tibarn was the first to tell everyone not to get complacent, because that was exactly what the spirit of order (Yune) was going to cause and it was dangerous, not just peaceful. Although this is again, unsurprising, since Tibarn is pretty violent and enjoys fighting. "To be honest, I don't care who they are, I just want to knock some disorder back in the world."

Fairly versed in the world's lore and mythos (as a King, and traveler!), he was the first person to explain about the curse that befalls laguz who have children with beorc; losing all their powers, because supposedly the goddesses forbade it (although this is not actually true), and was fairly insulted when Bastian implied he needed to then protect Elencia (a beorc)'s honor from him; and in return; Tibarn called Bastian: the court jester. Still, he agreed to get Reyson, but told Bastian to try to talk like a normal person. That said, unless something is a new revelation, he can be every bit as impatient and dismissive as everyone else (Bastian for example) says he is. Face to face with a goddess retelling the origin of their world, "The story of the grand creation? Heard it. Wake me when it's over." Yes.

According to databooks, his hobby is napping, and he hates land, loves the sea and salt-air.

SKILLS/ABILITIES: As a laguz, species/variation: hawk, he can transform into a giant 9 foot tall hawk, with all the fighting implied, including grappling with steel, glass, and blessed weapons. Even in his untransformed form, he has huge wingspan, and extreme fighting and flying prowess; able to cover many miles in a short time period. Also pointed ears. They have a keen sense of scent, and use this to distinguish people, most laguz treat the branded/"parentless" offspring from beorc/laguz unions as ghosts, something that should not be; and this comes from their innate sense of differentiating species.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Tibarn Phoenicis
AU AGE: 30
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Rounded ears, NO WINGS (they'd have to be regained), and no transformation form. Still scarred and muscular and dressing like a pirate, and still seven feet tall. He's a giant.

AU HISTORY:
A Native American of the Sauk indigenous "indian" (injun) tribe, Tibarn grew up in the rez life in Oklahoma, and eagerly took his chance to become a fighter pilot in the US Airforce as soon as he could, even forging documents to join younger than normal at sixteen. He rose quickly through the ranks, earning many friends, some enemies, and multiple scars in a few crashes. Medics in his team getting killed hit him extra hard, and he returned home stateside to try to find and adopt their family. (With permission: Reyson and Leanne, but if they don't make it in, it will be handwaved!)

Instead, post-army he became an activist for Native/Indigenous rights, -- as well as an anti-human trafficking activist, complete with a thorough background in Native mythos and lore. The two goddesses Yune and Ashera; actually two sides of the same force/goddess: Ashunera, represent chaos and order respectively. In Native American spirituality/philosophy this translates more to the physical vs. spiritual side of the world/life. While things like virtues: love, peace, joy, chastity, generosity and so forth are accepted as the good parts of the spiritual world, the material world isn't inherently evil; greed, lust, anger, wrath, all have their time and place, and are a necessary part of living not to be ignored or completely rejected and sealed away.

He also does skywriting or beach flying advertising and taking out parachute jumping thrill-seekers.

AU PERSONALITY:

Rather than embracing the chaos of wars, Tibarn translates it to material/physical world and cautiously embraces accordingly. In all Native American mythos there are legends about the end of the world being caused by people forgetting and neglecting the spiritual side and becoming too obsessed with materialism -- and this is not something even the most dismissive Native would take lightly.

He knows and has learned a lot of Native American heritage and pride, including about the history of many wars, and his ancestor: Blackhawk (also of the Sauk tribe.) Like any Native, there's a lot of traditions and cultural things that one learns very early on not to do, so he's hardly a walking Native-spouting fortune cookie, but with those he's comfortable with (particularly Reyson and Leanne - with permission!) he lets it show a bit more. He also knows a great deal of the pirate East Coast US history, particularly given their freedom and relationship with minority races.

His physical world bent manifests itself in music as well, with him generally seeming to prefer loud and heavy metal; but semi-secretly much more into the rustic native flute and protest folklore songs. He still works out to keep in shape post-army, boxing and on the gyms, though he tries not to be a complete vigilante as this would set a bad example -- especially for Reyson who already tries to emulate him a lot.

Having grown up on many native traditions, he was in Oklahoma, not Navajo, so nowhere near wealthy enough to have a horse or the culture with that, but hunting and Native traditional foods and language (Algonquain for Sauk!) are a big part of the heritage, and something Tibarn strives to keep in touch with. Especially since genetic food sources are an important part of maintaining proper health. He's not as much as a thrillseeker or as bloodthirsty as the original, although he certainly has moments (you don't become a fighter pilot and egg people to jump out of planes without having some edge), preferring instead to fill his mind with arts and music or physical sports.
